As a church we would like to join the St Alban’s Diocese supporting the Christian Aid Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. Christian Aid is working with 3 partner organisations in Ukraine, Hungary and Romania to offer assistance to internally displaced peoples and to refugees. Please donate via bank transfer marking it Ukraine, or by envelope again marked Ukraine.

Cassiobury and nearby Community Choir – “Sing Jubilee”

Jeremy C is starting a new community choir, with a plan to sing well-loved songs from past and current decades, hoping to make an appearance at the Essex Arms for the Jubilee weekend. Rehearsals on Wednesdays at 8pm. Please invite friends and neighbours who enjoy singing.

Street Angels

If anyone is interested in learning more about Street Angels or signing up to help, Dave Scourfield (the lead chaplain at Watford Town Centre Chaplaincy) will be visiting St Luke’s after the 10:30 service on Sunday 22nd May, to answer questions and discuss the work of Street Angels.

New Wine.

A group from St Luke’s are planning to go in the summer (23-28th July). Please contact John S if you would like more information.

Jubilee Party

We are planning a Jubilee party on Saturday 28th May from 5-7pm. There will be games, music and food. Please do consider inviting friends and neighbours along.

Parish Delivery

If you can help at all with the delivery of Jubilee invitations to the parish, please take an envelope from the Gathering Area.

Help needed.

We are looking for more volunteers, particularly for Toddlers on Thursdays, for school visits and for a holiday club in the summer (potentially 2nd-5th August if we get volunteers). Please contact Lydia (children@stlukeswatford.org) if you might be able to help.

Volunteers needed.

Do you enjoy cooking healthy young-person friendly food? Could you spare a week of the summer to help a group of young leaders share Jesus with 11-14 year olds on The Point CPAS Venture residential camp (24-30 July)? If so we would love to explore having you on the team. We are looking for someone to help lead the cooking as well as helpers in the kitchen, and can offer support with planning and ordering. Please do get in touch. Katie L.

Services Coming Up

The morning services will be following a theme of “Studies in 1 Corinthians”, and the evening services will follow the theme of “12 Dead Men speak (the Minor Prophets)”.

Good News:

  • God has been answering prayers – there have been people improving medically in answer to prayer, and hearts being opened. Do share your experiences of answered prayer this week!

Thank you to:

  • Everyone who has helped out a neighbour or a friend with covid recently (God sees you, you are amazing!)
  • Everyone praying for us, and for each other

God our redeemer,

you have delivered us from the power of darkness

and brought us into the kingdom of your Son:

grant, that as by his death he has recalled us to life,

so by his continual presence in us he may raise us

to eternal joy;

through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,

who is alive and reigns with you,

in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, now and for ever.

Suggestions for prayer this week

Let us pray for the world, for the church, and let us thank God for his goodness. Let us encourage one another to go deeper into prayer and to persevere.

Immediate needs: Ukraine, The heat-waves in India, fires in the US, the floods in Australia, those struggling with recent rising costs, the economic crisis in Sri Lanka

World Watch List (areas of highest religious persecution): Christians in Qatar.

Those with on-going needs.

St Luke’s family in need.

Our wider family and friends in need.

Those in mourning.

Giving Thanks: answers to prayer that we have seen!

Please update the office regarding those we are praying for and any prayer needs.

Please do also pick up a new prayer sheet.
