Developing our life as a church family with Bring & Share Lunches
The first Bring & Share Lunch of 2025 was on Sunday 9th March. About 60 people attended, including a few children, and we helped ourselves to quiche, cold meats, baby potatoes, baguettes, salads and crisps, then afterwards cheesecakes, cakes, fruit and trifle, all organised by Mary and Marion.
We were seated at tables of 8 in the Church Hall and after the first course we moved to a different table for dessert so that we could chat with more people. It was good to be able to spend time getting to know other members of our church family.
After the lunch, a violin and piano recital was given in the church by Matthew and Winnie. Around 70 people attended, some from the church family and some friends and past and present pupils of Matthew and Winnie.
The programme consisted of music by Tchaikovsky, Sibelius, Rachmaninoff, Kreisler and Strauss. Matthew played beautifully on his violin accompanied equally beautifully by Winnie on the piano, and the pieces were lovely and relaxing to listen to.
After the official programme there was an encore: ‘Happy Birthday’ (which we joined in to sing to a member of the audience) and another piece by Kreisler, ‘Molly on the Shore’.
