Cleo and Melody’s Charity Badge Cake Sale

The charities we decided to raise money for were Mencap and Macmillan Cancer Support.

We advertised the cake sale in St Luke’s the previous Sunday and on the day before, we spent all day baking and, with the help of our mums and Nanny Mitch, we managed to make a variety of different treats including stained glass window biscuits, rocky road, chocolate brownies and lemon and raspberry cupcakes.

We raised £254.04!

Thank you so much to the St Luke’s congregation who so generously supported us by buying these sweet treats.

After the cake sale I wrote a letter to our local Mencap office to thank them for what they do for the community and to tell them how much we raised. I was really surprised because they sent me a letter back thanking me and inviting me to The Hub on Langley Road to see where the money raised would be spent.

During the Easter holidays, I went with my family to meet Michelle, the Fundraising Manager at Mencap. We sat in the beautiful garden and Michelle explained the plans to build a soft play barn, a fire pit with accessible wifi for the teenagers as well as an allotment area so they can grow their own fruit and vegetables.
