St Luke’s had the privilege of running a four-day summer holiday club, 5th–8th August, with the highest ever attendance of 75 children.
This year’s theme was ‘Deep Sea Divers’ based on material produced by Scripture Union. It focused on Matthew’s Gospel to help the children learn more about who Jesus is. Over the course of four days, we dived into different Bible stories from Matthew, including the birth and baptism of Jesus, the healing of a man who could not walk, Jesus walking on water, the crucifixion and the resurrection.
Each day, the children participated in a range of engaging activities, including Bible teaching presented through fun drama performances. They also enjoyed worship songs, featuring the Deep Sea Divers theme song, ‘Our God Is a Great Big God’, and ‘My Lighthouse’. It was wonderful to see the children learning the songs and enjoying singing them.
After the teaching sessions, the children had snacks before enjoying rotation time, which included crafts, games, and relaxing or chatting in small groups to reflect further on the Bible teaching. Following rotation time, the children had lunch before they went home.
It was great to see the children’s enjoyment throughout the week and to receive positive feedback from parents. The entire time was an incredible opportunity to connect with all the children and share the message of Jesus with them.
