On Sunday 4th May, St Luke’s Church family joined together for a special lunch to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day
The Church Hall was decorated with bunting and the tables were decked out in red, white and blue, and Union Jack flags and serviettes. On the menu was coronation chicken (or in this case, liberation chicken quipped one ‘wisecrack’), new potatoes and salad, followed by summer fruit pavlova.
At the start and between courses we were entertained by the Cassiobury and nearby Community Choir (CanCC) to a sing-a-long of favourite wartime songs, such as Chattanooga Choo Choo, The White Cliffs of Dover and We’ll Meet Again.

Thank you to everyone who made it such an enjoyable and memorable occasion, especially Geoff and his catering team and the community choir.
