From 4th to 7th August, we ran our summer holiday club with about 70 children joining us each day.
This year the theme was Kingdom Builders based on material from Scripture Union.
We focused on a different aspect of the kingdom of heaven each day, as described by Jesus in Matthew’s Gospel. We explored lots of different Bible stories in a fun and engaging way, including a video and interactive talks. The Bible stories included:
- how the kingdom of heaven is like treasure
- who the King of the kingdom is
- why children are the greatest in the kingdom of heaven
- why it is wise to build your house on Jesus’ words.
Each day the children enjoyed the stories, singing worship songs with actions, learning a memory verse, having a snack and dividing into smaller groups for games, craft and question time where they explored the story in more depth. Then there was a short time to chill, make bracelets or play board games. After enjoying a good lunch together, they finished with a short time of worship before going home.
A huge thanks to all the volunteers who helped during the week.
